Distance Learning Residencies
Workshops, asynchronous repertoire, masterclasses, and more
Quince Ensemble has been a long-distance collaboration since 2011.
And so, we've developed strategies for working together at a distance, and we'd like to share those strategies, along with some key repertoire, that will help keep you collaborations and groups thriving even while you're apart.
We have experience streaming live events and giving interactive workshops as a group and as individuals.
Repertoire
Over our 10 year existence, we've commissioned and composed a body of asynchronous repertoire that can be performed by groups large and small from a distance. This asynchronous repertoire is a great way to stay connected over long distances and continue producing new work that isn't impacted by the latency of video conferencing platforms. It offers lessons in reading contemporary notation, exploring guided improvisation, and making creative soundscapes.
Workshops
Along with this exciting repertoire, we’ve been offering distance workshops and seminars to composers and performers of varying backgrounds on music careers, composing for the voice, extended vocal technique, music notation, self-producing projects, and more!
Our composer residencies have continued at a distance as we meet online, collaborate remotely, and record their works from our home studios.
Workshop topics:
Navigating the music industry
Running your own project/ensemble
Creating and interpreting graphic notation
Composing for the voice
21st Century Vocal Chamber Repertoire
Asynchronous and aleatoric repertoire
Women in Contemporary Music
And MORE!
Composer Readings/Recordings
Along with our interactive workshops, we are very experienced at working with composers to develop new pieces for the voice - even long-distance. Some past composer residencies include Berklee/Boston Conservatory, Stanford, New York University, University of California Davis, Connecticut Summerfest, Columbia COllege Chicago, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and more.
